Praha…Disney World for Grown-Ups…
Disney World for grown-ups is how I would describe Prague. Known for its beef goulash, dumplings, and beer, I did not know what to expect of this weekend adventure. Walking up the stairs of the Metro, I found myself in the middle of the city of Prague. Somewhat Americanized, the New Town of Prague has the typical city feel. After turning a few short corners I entered Old Town Prague, a quaint area with cobblestone streets, very little traffic, and small two to three story stone and brick buildings. After dropping our belongings off at the hostel, we headed out to explore the city where we stumbled into a traditional Czech restaurant. Naturally, I decided to try the beef goulash, dumplings, and an ice-cold beer. We toured through the city seeing sights like the famous astronomical clock Prague Orloj, Tyn Church, the Jon Hus statues, Prague Castle, Prague National Museum, Wenceslas Square, the James Kafka statue, the Metronome, the Rudolfinum, the John Lennon Wall, and the Charles River. After a long weekend in the cold, we were ready to head back to the busy bustle of Rome, a place we were starting to call home.
